Coburg Fortress where Martin Luther took refuge during the Reformation

Coburg Fortress-Martin Luther‘s Refuge

On a frigid winter day under ice blue skies, Rudi and I made a visit to a stunning nearby castle, the mighty Coburg Fortress.
The castle houses one of Germany‘s most extensive art collections but its main claim to fame is the fact that Martin Luther stayed here for 5 months in 1530 while translating the book of Psalms into German. The heavy wooden table where he sat and worked can still be seen. It seemed as if Rudi could still smell traces of ink and candle wax.
