Rudi in stroller, Participants in the 46th Annual Walking Day near Rothenburg

Rothenburg’s 46th Annual Walking Day

Thousands of people enjoyed the heavenly spring weather recently on the 46th annual Volkswanderungstag Day in Rothenburg. The routes of varying distances wove through the old city and surrounding Tauber River Valley. At the end was a celebration for all, featuring a wonderful selection of homemade kuchen, as well as traditional schweinebraten with knödel. Unfortunately  I think we gained a few more pounds than we lost by walking!

Rudi tired out very early in the day, because his legs are rather short. Pekingese don’t have a huge need for exercise after all but he enjoyed riding in his carriage and it made him feel very fancy and quite pampered.

Pictured here are scenes from the Spitalbastian, the most fortified entrance to the city.
